Goals and Methods

We develop the actor with sense memory techniques

Our work is based on sense memory techniques   The actor is encouraged to connect  with the 5 senses.  Exercises develop this sensitivity.

The actor will develop emotion memory techniques, making choices in his work.  Specific sensory work involves being able to connect with the five senses: taste, touch, smell, sound, sight -- not just to acknowledge these sensations intellectually.

There are exercises to develop this sensitivity.

These preliminaries take a while to master because they involve dealing with individual behavior patterns.  As he or she moves on, the actor will be able to develop emotion memory technique and to make choices in scenes and in his work.

Elaine Aiken's work on developing the actor has been praised by such artists and notables as Cindy Adams, Alec Baldwin, Billy Baldwin, Michael Imperioli, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Andrew McCarthy, Rebecca Miller, Brooke Shields, Lily Taylor, Shelley Winters, Burt Young, Sean Young, and others.
