Summer Intensive Program
Four Weeks:
July 9 – August 10, 2007
$1,150
A 2007 full time, four week, summer training course with
emphasis on method acting. This is a professional level program with
considerable demands of time and concentration made on the participants.
Committed beginners will be considered.
Have you ever watched an actor on stage or screen, with one gesture,
evoke an entire world of experience for you? Often, this was the actor
expressing an unscripted impulse. These moments seem like magic but they
are more. Our aim, at Actors Conservatory, is to give you the tools to
create living, breathing, authentic characters on stage and screen again
and again. Classes include script interpretation, voice & speech,
movement, and monologues, all taught by working actors.
Actors Conservatory has a long history of training actors in method
technique which has its basis in relaxation and sensory
work. Relaxation is essential to shedding the actor’s distracting physical
tension and interfering habits. Sensory work is a multifaceted tool which
helps the actor develop emotional honesty, responsiveness, and
specificity. Script Interpretation offers techniques for breaking down
the script into actable beats and making the world of the script a real
world, relevant to today. Scene study class operates like a professional
rehearsal. Monologue class shows you how to find and hone audition
material using everything you’ve learned.
The Summer Intensive consists of twenty hours of classes per week:
students must, in addition, allow several hours per week for rehearsal.
The program is intimate and focused; designed to give a small group of
actors the time and attention required to take their work to their
particular next level.
We have a limited number of spaces available.
